A guachinche is a traditional Canarian eatery, typical above all of the north of Tenerife, where the winegrower sells the wine from their own harvest along with home-cooked food: goat meat, ribs with potatoes and corn on the cob, carne fiesta, escaldón, grilled cheese or wrinkled potatoes with mojo.
Many guachinches only open a few days a week, mostly from Thursday to Sunday and at lunchtime, and some close for a season when the wine runs out. Each guachinche's page shows its daily opening hours and any temporary closures.
They tend to fill up at weekends, so it's best to call ahead. The guide shows which guachinches take bookings and their phone number.
